WILLIAMS—CALDWELL A pretty wedding was quietly solemnised at Tolaga Bay yesterday afternoon, when Elizabeth, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Caldwell, “Doonholm,” Tolaga Bay, was married to Herbert Roland Williams, of Gisborne, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Williams, of Invercargill. The ceremony took place in the picturesque garden at the home of the bride's parents, the spreading branches of a huge old walnut treo forming a canopy overhead. The Rev. W. H. Smith, of Tolaga Bay, was the oilieialing clergyman, and Mr. Irvin Moore, of Gisborne, supplied appropriate pianoforte music at intervals throughout the afternoon. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very charming in a simply-fashioned frock with a lowwaisted, close-fitting bodice of creme satin, with long tight-fitting sleeves and a two-flounced skirt of creme georgette falling longer at the back. Her exquisite veil of embroidered Brussels net was arranged in cap style, with a coronet of, orange blossom and caught under the chin with a narrow ribbon strap. Shoes of creme satin and lioso to match were worn, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white watsonia, sweet peas, and maidenhair fern. The bride’s sister, Miss June Caldwell, attended as bridesmaid, wearing art attractive frock of powder-blue georgette fashioned with a sleeveless semifitting bodice and a full skirt composed of three frills, beige shoes and stockings, and a pretty bat of beige crinoline, trimmed with clusters of tiny pas-tel-tinted flowers. A bouquet of pink sweet-peas and delicate fern completed her toilette. Mr. Geoffrey I'ocock, of Auckland, fulfilled the duties of groomsman. The guests, who were all relatives of the bride, were received by Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell, the latter attired in an elegant -.frock of beige floral georgette, cut with a round neck, long sleeves, and a skirt fashioned with a diagonal flounce, a pink flower on the shoulder adding a charming touch of color. Her picture hat of' black straw with a lace brim was trimmed at one side with a posy of pink roses, anil she carried a handsome bouquet of pink roses and pink and mauve sweet-peas, mingled with asparagus fern. The large reception room was decorated with a wealth of flowers, vivid gaillardias, poppies and flame-hued blooms being artistically arranged, while the long table accommodating the sumptuous ! wedding repast was offset with vases of creme sweet-peas, hcuchera, and maidenhair fern, and a two-tiered wedding cake was decorated with favors- and a cluster or oraugo blossomed The- exquisite bouquets wore made by Mrs. Bartram, and were greatly admired. Later in the afternoon the bride and bridegroom left for the south amidst the congratulations and good wishes ot their friends. The bride travelled in a smartly tailored suit of cinnamon checked tweed, with a small straw hat, and shoes and hose to tone. The guests included: Mrs. F. Caldwell, the bride’s grandmother, who wore a handsome frock of black crepe-de-chine relieved with touches of white, a black shoulder cape trimmed with a fringe, and a black hat. Mrs. F. Hopps, of Christchurch, the bride’s aunt, was attired in a becoming frock of black crepe-de-soie, fashioned on’ modish lines, with the flounces edged with white satin ribbon, and a small black hat; Mr. and Mrs. David Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. Bartram and family, Mrs. Pattullo, of Auckland, Mrs. D Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bartram, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Cranswiok,, Misses J. 0. and 11.
