CRASHED THROUGH ICE
TWO MEN FROZEN TO DEATH WINNIPEG, Nov. 25. A thrilling story of winter blizzard and hardship- became known, when Arthur Schmidt arrived from tho Northern Lake district and had Ids loot amputated in hospital. .vlter setting Inc lids, lie and two other fishermen, named Odach and Magmisson, started homeward, walking across the ice. Suddenly Schmidt and Odach crashed through, but Magmisson pulled them out, and, with a bleak north-cast wind freezing their garments, started on. Boon a storm broke, and they were hopelessly lost. Magmisson and Odach collapsed. Schmidt stayed with them until lie realised that they were dead. Finally lie reached the shore, and stayed the remainder of the night in an abandoned cabin, where he was found frozen, but still alive.
