SHIPPING ARRIVALS Tuesday, December 5 J.’ukeko, s.s. '(10.40 p.m.), 912 tons, Barnes, from Auckalnd. via Napier and Waikokopu. DEPARTURES Tuesday, December 3 (!unbar, s.s. (6 p.m.), 402 tons, Miles, for Napier. The Wuimea left Auckland at 6 p.m. yesterday with cargo for Gisborne and Napier. She is due here to-morrow morning to discharge. The Kahika, baking for Napier and Gisborne, is expected to leave Dunedin to-day for Oamaru, Timaru and Lytt,elton. She is due here about December 12. The Kaitangata, loaded with coal from Greymouth and Westport, for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland, was expected to leave Greymouth yesterday. The lvainona loads coal at Greymouth about Saturday for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland. The Waipahi is expected to load at southern ports for Napier and Gisborne, leaving Dunedin about December .17. The New Zealand Shipping Co.’s steamer Norfolk is to load at Gisborne about December 16. taking frozen meat and general cargo for London. The Federal line steamer Cambridge is due at Gisborne about December 9 to load frozen meat and general cargo for United Kingdom ports. The Niagara, from Vncouver, Honolulu and Suva, left Auckland at 11.30 p.m. yesterday, for Sydney, where she is due on Saturday, The Aorangi, from Sydney, Auckland, Suva and Honolulu, arrives at Vancouver on Friday.

The Makura, from Sydney, left Wellington yesterday for Rarotonga, Papecto and San Francisco. The Tahiti, from San Francisco, leaves Papeete on Saturday for Rarotonga, Wellington and Sydney. The Awahou left Auckland at 8.10 p.m. yesterday for Coast bays and Gisborne. She is due here to-morrow night, i The Gun'bar sailed last evening with wool for Napier. From Napier sho proceeds to Wellington to load for Waikokopu. The Pakura sailed from Wellington last evening with general cargo for Napier and Gisborne. The vessel should arrive here .on Fridav morning.

The Pnkeko arrived here at 10.40 p.m. yesterday front Auckland, via Napier and Waikokopu. Site sails again tonight for Coast bays and Auckland. The Pnrera sails to-night with sheep for Westport, The motor ship Margaret W, which left Auckland at 8.15 p.m. yesterday, is due here to-night. Site sails again tomorrow evening on the return trip north. The Tiroa, en route from Auckland to Tolnga Bay, is clue at Hicks Bay this evening. From there she proceeds to Tokomaru Bay, and arrives at Tqlnga Bay to-morrow afternoon. ■Captain Miles has been transferred from the s.s. Pnrera to the s.s. CJnnbar. MAHENO’S MISHAP The mishap to the Union Co.’s intercolonial passenger steamer Malieno, on her passage from Auckland to Sydney, when she stripped a portion of the blading of one of her starboard turbines, proved a costly accident, the repair bill alone running into about ±33000. Several thousands of new turbine blades are being fitted, the blades measuring from otie to four inches in length by half an inch wide. Great accuracy has to be observed in fitting eaoh blade. The repair work is being carried out in Sydney by the Cockatoo Dock Co. ' The Malieno is now. expected to be ready to leave Sydney on December 11 for Melbourne, and she is timed to sail from the lattor port on December 17 for Wellington to pick up her running in the new subsidised mail service between Melbourne, Wellington, and South Island ports, in conjunction with the Manuka. The anticyclone referred to yesterday has increased in intensity and still cov ers tlie Dominion. A rather dren impression is located in the south west Tasman Sen. Winds moderate southwesterlies, but a change to west and north-west setting in shortly from the south. Seas rather rough on parts of tho west coast, but decreasing, and in other parts smooth or moderate. Winds tending northerly and freshening in the eastern Tasman, with, smooth to moderate, but rising, sens. Weather mainly fair to fine, but conditions again becoming unsettled in the far southern districts and gradually extending to film western districts generally. Temperatures becoming milder.
