BRITISH MOTOR MAKERS * OVERSEAS TRADE LONDON, Sept. 17. A feature of tho Motor Show, which will lie held at Olympia from October 17 to October 2(5, will be the number of “mystery cars,” which have been specially designed for overseas conditions. These have been produced in connection with the British Manufacturer’s attack on overseas markets. The “mystery cars” are now undergoing secret tests. (treat interest has been aroused by a special overseas mddel, with • the bodywork designed on American lines, which has been produced by a famous English cheap car factory for an attempt to capture the markets now held by the United States.
An official explained that it was useless attempting to force a customer to buy a strange-looking ear built to suit English conditions and, therefore, they were combining American appearance with the best features of both British and American ehasses.
Overseas agents, including Australian agents, have ordered 2a,000 of these cars. There is also a 'big export programme for ‘‘baby" cars. One factory is turning out 150 a week. “Baby cars are now very popular abroad, notably in the Far East, where they are replacing rickshaws.
