THE BACHELOR PRINCE
AN EXPLANATION MADE NEVER REALLY IN LOVE (United Service.) LONDON, Sept. 26. The oft-asked question why the Prince of Wales never marries is frankly answered in the new biography of the Prince published to-day. The authors are the brothers, W. and L. Townsend, who had the assistance of the Prince’s private secretary, Sir Godfrey Thomas, who read the manuscript, which he passed on with only a few minor “cuts” and who also supplied a great deal of the extra material which is incorporated into the finished book. The following passage strikingly reveals why the Prince of Wales is still a bachelor: “It is not very easy to define liis Royal Highness’ outlook on marriage. It is certain that he regards the sanctity of marriage so seriously that he will not he thrust into a marriage of convenience, retaining the best of the so-called old-fashioned beliefs in his creed of modernity. The Prince is a firm disciple in the belief that it is useless to marry without love, and be--cause he lias not yet experienced love in its true intensity, the Prince does not get married. That is all there is to it.”
