Mails which left Auckland on August 27 per R.M.S. Niagara,, via Vancouver, arrived in London on September 25. While playing in the Grafton v. Marathon Rugby football match at Ellen Bark, Auckland, on Saturday. Norman J. McConnell. 21, formerly of Gisborne, had his right leg broken. McConnell was removed to the Auckland Hospital. His condition is considered satisfactory. McConnell is well known in the-Poverty Bay district, where he was a member of the Gisborne High School Old Boys senior Rugby fifteen during the 1927 and 1928 seasons. He was a member of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club, and also took an active part in local boxing tournaments.
