A new police station has been opened in the Gisborne district, the department having stationed ail officer at the Kopua railway camp. Constable JSkinner, of the Auckland wharf station, lias been transferred to Gisborne to take charge of the new Gisborne sta lion, and commenced duty Ihis week. The annual police examinations were held in Gisborne this week, extending over three days, and concluded last night. There wore six candidates tor the examination to qualify for the rank of sergeant, these being Constable Olsen, of Port Awumii, Constable Ryan, of Ruatoria, Constable .McLeod, of Whakatane, and Constables Gatehouse, Hunter and Ileaslip, of Gisborne. Sealed examination papers were received, and Inspector O’llalloran acted as supervisor.

The estimated revenue of the Poverty Bay Power Board from the stiles of Current between the end of March and the beginning of September, a. period of live months, was £20,832. This period covers tbe winter months, and naturally' the revenue from the stiles of current would be larger during these months than in the summer, For the same months the board paid out £13,516 from the loan ticcount, nearly £9OOO being for new construction.
