LIABLE TO CANCELLATION
N.B.W. COAL LEASES FAILURE TO EMPLOY MEN (Received Sept. 27, 2 pup.) SYDNEY, Sept, 27. The Crown Solicitor, Mr. Tillett, today advised the State Premier that the northern coal owners had rendered their leases liable to cancellation through failure to employ men. The covenants provide that a certain number of competent men must be employed, and unless prevented by accident the mines must bo worked on all.lawful working days. The question, therefore, is whether unemployment owing to the present dispute is an accident.
Mr. Tillett is of tlje opinion that the owners are not entitled to rely thereon, and the question of fact must be determined by, Ibe Executive- Council.
