A SMART ARREST
BAG THIEF CAUGHT (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. “Stop the thief!” was called by a totalisator clerk at the trotting meeting to-day, when lie saw a man knock a woman down, snatch her bag, and rai,e off with it. The crowd took up the chase and followed the man with a line and cry along the path towards the gates. The fugitive was not being overtaken, but was caught by a man coming .into the course, who brought him down with a good football tackle, and held him till the police arrived.
