COTTON TRADE CRISIS
HOPES FOR SETTLEMENT EMPLOYERS' CONFERENCE (Britisin Official Wireless.) ltec. noon. .^X'^V 3 , Meetings which it is hoped will lead to a resumption of negotiations between the parties in the cotton trade dispute were held in Manchester to-day. They were the result of an interview between the Prime Minister and the employers at Edinburgh during the week-end, when Mr. MacDonald, it is understood, urged the desirability of submitting a case to arbitration. _ At noon, a committee of the Lot ton Spinners and Manufacturers' Association met Sir Horace Wilson, permanent Secretory of the Ministry of Labor, was present. The meeting was adjourned when it became known that a commit tee of the Federation of Master Cotton Spinners' Associations had been called together for this afternoon. It is expected these two sections ot employers will meet later in consultation with a view to joint action. Part of the business at each meeting dealt with the question of arbitration, and reports were given of the interview with Mr. MacDonald.
