Times have changed. In a copy of the Poverty Bay Herald of 1885 an observant reader to-day discovered no less than seven advertisements relating to consultations on the result of the Melbourne < 'up. The aim of the Ilawkc's Bay Motor Co. is to have t'losed-iii cars for the whole of its services, and on the runs 'converging on Gisborne a number (if replacements have been made to the Heel recently with Ibis end iu view. Limousine models have taken up the running on the Nnpicr-Glslmrnc route. The latest addition to the cars with Gieborni! as their headquarters is a Stums-Knight eight passenger, which arrived here yesterday, making the first vehicle of its kind in Gisborne. With il practically silent engine, comfortable upholstery, with abundant room in an improved type of "dickey" seat, and a number of other innovations, this car represents the last word in road 'travel, in which the comfort of the passengers will be beyond doubt. This car is in addition to a WillysKnight, whicii arrived about a fortnight ago, and both have been placed on the Gisbonie-Wairoa service, which is connected with at Wairoa with the latest dosed Cadillacs. A closed-ill Studebaker, which is to arrive shortly, complete the replacements to the Wflixoa run.
