Captain 11. Gisborne Gordon, of Poverty Bay, returned from England by the Rangitiki on Thursday. Chief Judge R. N. Joifes is among the Easter visitors to flisborne. He returns on Wednesday to Wellington.

The Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of York were present at the simple funeral of the Dowager Marchioness of Cambridge at Frogmore on Saturday.

The doctor has made himself famous if by no other moans than by his success in abolishing the dreaded Levuana moth which threatened to< kill the coconut industry in the Pacific. He has also done a great deal to place the Fiji banana industry on a sound basis in having old plantations closed and replanting by the natives made compulsory.
