STRIKERS’ CHALLENGE
AN EXTRAORDINARY SCENE AFFRONT TO A JUDGE (Received March 23, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 23.An extraordinary scene, unprecedented in Australian trade union history, has been arranged by union officials directing the timin'!- workers’■ strike as an open challenge, not only to the Arbitration Court, but also to the Federal Government.
The strikers decided to stage their ballot-paper burning demonstration on Wednesday night, and also a large effigy of Judge Lukin has been built, and this will be derisively committed to Hie flames. The ashes will be addressed to the judge, and forwarded to Melbourne.
Moderate unionists are alarmed,
