A strong committee lias been set up to supervise the. functions. A large, number of friends are expected, and everything points to a most successful evening. Miss .Ellen Miliar, who has been in Sydney taking a refresher course in singing and elocution, left Sydney by the Maunganui on Friday last and will arrive in Gisborae on February 15. Miss Millar has been unable to persuade Miss (lallichnn to .leave Sydney, but hopes she will follow later.. In the meantime, Miss Miliar will carry on as last year with Miss Gallichan's pupils. While in Sydney several years ago, Miss-Millar had training in fencing, and she decided to complete the. course during this visit, with a view to leaching the art. It is a very interesting course of training, and she feels sure it will appeal to Gisborne enthusiasts. Miss Millar will re sume her classes on her arrival here. The announcement that the fire brigade has arranged with Wainoni Fireworks, Ltd., to give a. display of fireworks on Wednesday evening will be received with much interest. A fireworks display is one of the most popular forms of openair entertainment. The blazing of set pieces and banging of shells, and high explosions of rockets have a peculiar fascination for people of all ages. In (he display arranged for Wednesday many examples of the pyrotechnist's skill will be in evidence, and, it is slated. the display will be larger and eclipse any similar exhibition ever seen locally. Prior to the fireworks, n. water display will be given by the brigade, and ibis event will be enhanced by the burning of many brilliantly-colored (ires. The combination of falling spray against a background of colored flame should givo a line spocfcaciilni effect. The brigade, in combination with the Gisbornc City Hand, will bold an illuminated parade to the glenoid as a preliminary to I be. . night's festivities
