Mr. E. M. Hutchinson, of Oisborne, is Visiting Waikaremoana. Miss Jennie Street, of. London, a wellknown worker in tno Christian Endeavor movement, is shortly visiting New Zealand to begin a forward move throughout the Dominion. Mr. s. s. Donn, Wellington manager of the South British Insurance Co., was n visitor to Gisbornc on Saturday; Ho is paying a short business visit to tho district. Dr. Frank Hudson, , son of the lata Dr. Hudson, of Nelson, has been appointed medical superintendent of the Nelson Hospital, in succession to Dr. D. 0. Lowe, who resigned to enter private practice. Mr. H. Parker Smith, at present head teacher at Port Ahuriri ( school, has been appointed headmaster of To Hapara school, Gisbornc, in succession fo Mr. W. A. A party of southern pressmen, who arc en route to Rotorua to attend the annual meeting of the Press Association, arrive in Oisborne this evening. They are Messrs. A. G. Henderson, managing editor of the Lyttelton Times, and chairman of the New Zealand Press Association-, A. M. Burns, manager of the Christ-church Press; W. Easton, manager of the Otago Daily Times; R. P. Fnrness, proprietor of the Marlborough Express; and Mr. E. G. Kerr, proprietor of the Timaru Herald. Mr. Kerr is accompanied by his wife and son.

Chief Judge R. X. .Tones, UnderSecretary of the Native Department, left this morning for Wellington. Tho Patutahi Commission brought him to Gisbornc on this occasion, this business being cleared up during the week. Chief Judge Jones and .fudge C. E. MacCorm.icT comprised the commission, which will report to the Government on the question of what compensation may be paid to the parties interested in Patutahi land seized without title by the Goverument in 1860.
