TOLAGA BAY TOURNEY AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME (Herald Correspondent.) For ihe first boxing tournament to be staged nl Tolaga Bay, the provisional committee of the (Jawa Boxing Association, which is socking affiliation with the New Zealand Boxing Council, has been able to draw up an attractive programme. The tournament will be held under the nl' the Gisborne association, pending the granting of aliiliation to the Uawa organisation, and amateurs from Gisborne will figui■• in the programme, file majority of the amateurs will bo Tolaga Bay and Tokomaru Bay lads, but among . <: promiueni visitors will be J. Franklin, of Gisboruo, T. Mul--1 ius, of Auckland, W. Robertson and A. Buckingham of Poverty Bay, and an outstanding' Hawke's Bay boxer, who will be matched with Franklin. Mr. A. V. Singe is the secretary of the I'awa Boxing Association, and is in charge of the arrangements, which will include the hiring of the Tokoinarn Bay association's ring. Pitcher (Tokomaru Bay), special bout of six three-minute rounds, light heavyweights. It is possible that Mahanga Brown may be available for a match with Mullins, in -which event McGhie will meet Pitcher, according to an' arrangement; entered into by the boxers eoncorned. It is hoped that A. Ancell, of Gisborne, will also be able to_accept a contest at the tournament. Mr. T. Smale will be the referee, and judging from his work at recent tournaments, there should bo no room for complaint as to the control of the fighters. The programme is subject to change if necessary, but most of the bouts mentioned above are definitely arranged.
