AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN
NEW UNION OPPOSED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 8. Objections to the registration of the Australian Seamen’s Union promoted by Air. Walsh, has been lodged by the Commonweal! h Steamship (Owners’ Association and the Seamen's Union of Australia, of which Mr. T. Fleming is acting general secretary, the Watersidors’ Federation and the Marino Cooks and Pantrymen’s Union. Mr. Fleming’s affidavit against registration mainly claims that Mr, Walsh’s union is not: bona-fide, and thal the existing Senmen’s Union embraces nearly aOOO members, whoso interests already are adequately catered for.
