Ransom, questioned to-day regarding the level-crossing'danger, said - ' the department had the matter under review. Innumerable devices for lessening the danger had been offered for a test of their efficiency. Mr. H. 11. Sterling said that with the limited funds available it was dif- " ficult to embark on any ambitious scheme for eliminating crossings.
