BRITISH PRESS ATTACKED MISLEADING REPORTS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (Received February 9, 3 -p.no) WASHINGTON, February 8. Word from London slating that toe British cruiser construction programme would be carried out as scheduled was followed here to-day by a denunciation of the British press by the chairman, Mr. Britten, in tins House Naval Allans ( i-mmiUee. Mr. Britten accused the British press of circulating false reports at tiio time the Congress was considering the Naval Bill. Ho said that- 'hiring the past six years, whenever Congress was considering navy increases, it had been customary for the British pre.-s in broadcast- a. suggestion that Britain would slow up iter building pro gramme. These announcements had been taken seriously by pacifists and European patriots.
