Tim decision of the Auckland (Electric Power Board to place separate orders with British and Swiss linns, each for £ICCO tor electric time switches or docks for hot-water systems, was questioned by Mr. T. Bl'oodwoi'Uj at yesterday's meeting. Seeing that British clocks were £1 dearer and the British article- was assisted by a preferential tariff, the board was paying £IOOO more than was necessary. Mr. Holdawort.Fi, the chairman, said lie bad one make of each type of clock dismantled. Even to the lay eye the British clocks showed their superiority in various parts. They did not want to study the original cost, but the years of service the clocks would give. Other power boards Mere following their example. Mr. Holdsworth's explanation was accepted by the board.
