ATTEMPT TO DOPE DOG SYDNEY. .Tan. 31. A brazen attempt to dope a racing greyhound at Mascot to-day resulted, in a, stern chase and the capture of a fugitive, who .turned out to be W. Coventry, Ihe owner of another dog. Coventry was disqualified by the coursing authorities for life. Coventry was observed patting a. dog named Irish Castle. At the same time ho gave it a piece of meat. The owner, who was standing nearby, saw what had happened and made the dog drop liie meat, inside of which Avas a white pill. Coventry ran, but. several voices shouted, “Stop that man!” Coventry ran straight fin to the arms of a course detective.
