TIMBER YARDS DISPUTE. CRISIS IN MELBOURNE MELBOURNE, Jan. 31. ' The timber workers’ dispute over Mr. Justice Lukin’s award providing for a 48 hours’ working week, came to a heW in Victoria this morning, when' member's of the union in the three biggest timber yards in the metropolitan area .failed to respond to the 7.30 o’clock whistles to start work, after which they found the doors locked against them. j The yards affected are John - Sharp and Sons, Ltd., James Moore and Sons Proprietary, Ltd., Millars’ Timber and Trading Co., Ltd., all of which sure .in South Melbourne.
