DISTANCE FLIGHTS
AIR FORCE CRUISE CAIRO TO THE CAPE (British Official Wi re loss.' Roc. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 3ft. The annua, formation cruise of Royal Air Force machines in the Middle East command, from Cairo to the Cape, begins on February 12. On reaching Nairobi, the machines will carry out co-operative exercises with the King’s African Rifles, and will proceed to Capetown in March. The outward terminal point is Durban, (i.'idfl miles from Cairo, and on the return flight the machines will be accompanied from Pretoria to Khartoum by aircraft of the South African Air Force. The Fairey longdistance monoplane by which it is hoped to establish a fresh long-distance flight record, has one more sustained test to make before it. sets out in three stages for South Africa, from where attempts will be made to reach England in one continuous flight.
