To-day West Australia enters upon the hundredth anniversary of its official existence, and from now on co tho end of flie year every public event will lie associated with the reuveuaiy refill >i at ions. Th.e programme which has been arranged by the committee of management is of great length. It makes provision for one or more ..-veins of pnblie interest to be held in each of the 12 months, with a. special concentration of effort round about August. In part the celebrations were designed to arouse in the hearts of local residents a feeling of patriotism. Principally, however, the object is to advertise tho State, both within the Goiumonwe.altli and abroad, and by every means that can be devised to aimud persons to it from outside. With this object, the Government is endeavoring to arrange for reduced slimmer fares on the most important liue.s ami for other concessions •fiat univ appeal to the travelling pubic. Within the Slate also numerous excursions • will be conducted at a minimum of cost and a maximum or convenience and comfort. Generally speaking, >l is hoped to make the year a bimioci' one.
