COMMERCIAL TRAIN
EXTENSIVE ITINERARY TOUR WELLINGTON PROVINCE The Wellington Chamber of Commerce and the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, with the co-opera-tion of the Railway Department, have planned the running of a cruising train, which is to leave Wellington on the night of Friday, April 12, visit Palmerston North, Now Plymouth, Napier, and the East Coast, and return via the Wairarapa, reaching Wellington again on Sunday, April 21. The object is to enable representative business men to study at first band the resources and potentialities of the southern districts of the North Island, and to establish a closer business relationship by way of personal contact with clients, local bodies, and sister organisations. The train will consist of four sleeping ears, parlor cars, utility car, day car, bath car, etc. Sleeping accommodation and morning and afternoon tea, but no heavy meals, will be provided on the, train, and, according .to a circular letter, “other creature comforts will lie available at standard rates.” Government officers will travel on the train in order to lecture to members on the farming resources and possibilities of the country traversed, and on points of interest from the scenic, engineering, and historical points of view. The Postal Department will arrange for prompt forwarding of telegrams and letters to members on tour. The establishment of intermittent telephonic communication with Wellington* is'to be arranged, and also the supply of daily newspapers. The cost ot the trip is estimated at £lB each, and the party will be limited to G 5 male members of the eliamber or association. —Dominion.
