POWER FROM WAIKABEMOANA
It is good news that the installation works at Waikaremoana are now sufficientlv advanced to link up with Mangahao and take some of the strain oft the southern section of our hydro-electric system. The heavy demands upon the power generated at Mangahao have ma lo it necessary to expedite matters at Maikaremoana, and the Public Works Department is to be congratulated on being able to supply power from that source nearly six months before the time limit originally fixed. Eventually th process or linking up will connect Waikaremoana with Arapuni, and from these three mam stations 'transmission lines will radiate throughout the North Island, supplying energy for transport and for industrial and domestic, purposes at a relatively low cost. Assuming always that the plans of the department have been based on sound scientific lines, and that the work of construction and installation has been well and truly done, the completion of this great- hydro-elec-tric system with its manitold reticulations,' should give a great impetus to settlement add inaugurate a new m o prosperity for the whole Dominion, and more especially for the.
