£35,000 LEFT TO CHURCH

T.. mas Grainger, of 27 King Edward avenue, Epsom, the Church oi England, and the various charitable institutions in Auckland will benelit to the ex.cm of about £35,C00. The estate has just been sworn at £50,000, and after the payment of legacies to relatives and cimritaule institutions and the succession and death djpt ies, 'the residue will amount to not less than £50,000, which s un the late Mr. Grainger bequeathed to the Gliurch of Eng,and to he. held ill trust by I lie Bishop of Auckland, and to he applied by him to such purposes as he thinks Jit. Although there is no direction in hi.s will as ai how the money shall be spent, Air. Grainger during his life expressed the wish that the bequest should be used for the establishment, ol a training farm under .he Church ol England immigration scheme for hoys or girls of British parentage. the monev is al present invested in securities. Legacies to charity include £IOOO to the Orphan Home at I apaioctoo, £SOO to the , .1 ulii.ee institute for the Blind, £SOO to Hie Society for the J’vo lection of Women and Children ana iho Socicvy for the Prevention of Crucify to Animals, which were one body at the time the will was drawn, £SOO to the Manurewii Children’s Home, £SOO to the Salvation Army for expenditure in Auckland, and £SO to the Hospital Board.

The late Air. Grainger, who was an old resident of * Auckland, was a retired baker. He was about 60 years of age at the time of his death last, December, lie leaves a widow, but no children.
