U.S. NAVAL BILL
OPPOSITION CONTINUES MODIFICATION SUGGESTED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.' (licceived December 29, noon] WASHINGTON, Dee. 28. Opposition to the Navy Cruiser Construct ion Bill will continue, regardless of the success or failure of the Kellogg l.'eaee Treaty. So far opponents of the bill are calling for the construction of 15 cruisers and one aeroplane carrier. They have confined themselves to a fight for* action, on the treaty ahead of the navy measure, but now they are preparing to continue the battle, even if the Peace Pact, is ratified before the del,ate on the bill closes. They are unlikely to be able to prevent iis passage, but there is a possibility ibat they may succeed in reducing the number of ships authorised by the bill as it was passed bv the House last session, because many senators who did nol oppose naval construction would vole for :i modiucat ion.
