GOOD DAIRY SEASON
PRODUCTION STILL RISES A RECORD DAY'S MAKE Figures are not yet available on the point, but it is believed by those in a position to judge that the December production of butter in Poverty Bay and coastal districts will exceed that- of November, which is often the flush month. The frequency of warm rains has provided a great growth in the pastures, and, instead of commencing to decrease, butter-fat supplies appear to be still on. the increase.
Up to the end of last month a substantial increase had been noted in the district's production as compared with a similar period of last season, which was a record one. When this month's figures are complete, it is expected that a still further increase on last season will be noticed.
An instance of the large butter-fat supplies recently is given in the fact that this week the Kin Ora Co-operative Dairy Go.'a factory created a record in the amount of butter it has manufactured in any one day. On a number of occasions." as a result of week-end accumulations by suppliers who send their cream by rail, the factory has turned out 6)r tons, while a. few weeks ago (be manufacture exceeded this amount by a small margin, creating a new record. On Wednesday, however, a new standard was set. All cream that reached the factory bv motor lorry was delivered as usual on Christmas Day, but the upcountry suppliers, who arc dependent on the railway service, bad to keep their cream till Wednesday, with the result that cream supplied that day made 280 boxes of butter,, or exactly seven tons.
