'PLANES OF THE FUTURE
MAY BURN OIL WINGS ON A DIRIGIBLE WASHINGTON, Dec. 20. . Mr. Henry Ford, 'in a speech at the International Civil Aeronautic Conference, said that there will be no limit to the size of aeroplanes which may bo built in the future.
"There exist no drawbacks, from a mechanical viewpoint, for increasing their size," he said. "Aeroplanes may become as common in 10 years from now as motor cars were 10 years ago. I helieve that the trend of aviation will be away from the small flivver type, towards the large planes, and there may he worked out a combination of the lighter-than-air ship with the heavier-than-air machine.
"Our Detroit factory is conducting two experiments. One consists of placing aeroplane wings on a, dirigible, to give it quick rising power, and in the second, we are trying an engine which will burn oil, instead of gasoline. We are also planning new planes, capable of carrying from 25 to 30 people, ' he added.
