SERIOUS DECLINE
TOTALISATOR FIGURES 1 i THE AUCKLAND CARNIVAL (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. The wet weather has greatly affected the summer racing and trotting carrnTal, and there has been a large decline in the attendance, and consequently in the totalisator receipts, a serious matter for the clubs. On Boxing Day, the first day of the races at Ellerslie, the totalisator handled £95,783 10s, a decrease of £36,7-49 lfjtej compared with the same day last year The decreaso for the two days Is £63,749 10s, this year's total being £140,094 10s, and last year's £203,844. & far the Auckland Trotting Club has suffered a drop of £26,767 10s in the volume of speculation, this being the decrease on the opening day, ..Thursday, compared with £87,607 10s last year. Two more days of racing and two of trotting remain to be held.
