The Manchester Guardian's Constantinople correspondent states that Angora has ordered the calling up on January 1 of all Turkish citizens between 16 and 40 years of age for instruction in reading and Writing in the reformed language. The classrooms will .be befiagged, speeches made will emphasise' the importance of universal literacy, and bands will play the National Anthem. The heads of families may engage to teach members of their household, and husbands may teach wives, but all must undergo" public examinations.
