YOUNG BOY SHOT
ELDER BROTHER MISSING MELBOURNE, Dec. 26. While his mother was in the cityon Monday buying toys for Christmas, Jack Pope, 10, was shot dead in his home at Moorabbin. Shortly aftef. the tragedy an elder brother, Philip, aged 14, left the house and has not been seen since. The fatal weapon, a shotgun, had one barrel discharged. Five other young children in the house were unable to say how the shooting occurred. They only knew that Philip had gone, saying he would tell mother and the police of the shooting. The father was away at work. The mother returned .to find Jack lying in the passage. The gun had been replaced on the nail on which it hung in the father's room. murder charge preferred (Received December 27, noon) MELBOURNE, Dec. 27. Phillip Pope, who disappeared after his brother was shot on Monday, was found by the police at a picnic ground where he had just participated in a race. He made statements concerning his wanderings since his disappearance. Ho was later charged with having murdered his brother.
