Numerous inquiries have been received from foreign countries indicating great interest in novelty goods made from New Zealand 1 tree-fern. lit is tonly within the past two years that the industry has been developed; and the wooden objects, mostly vases, are now manufactured in considerable numbers. On account of the nature of the wood, which is stringy and easily split, a' specM process is necessary in turning the rough blocks. The vases, which are mottled and present a handsome appearance, have been forwarded to Canada, America, Europe and even China. One consignment was addressed lo Central Africa.
