' There are indications that the spring wheat crop in the American North-West will exceed expectations. A record crop of 500,000,000 bushels is I estimated for Western- Canada. FROZEN MEAT EXPORTS The latest returns issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board show increases in the export shipments of all classes of frozen meat for the nine months of the current season ended June 30, compared with the corresponding period of last year. Four times as much beef has been shipped this seasoi. as Hast; there has been an increase oi nearly 400,000 carcases of lamb, 1b,70l carcases of mutton, and over 19,00'.. carcases of pork. The killings of stock for export show large increases in all classes, except mutton, iu which there was a. decrease of" 182,025 carcases. The total lamb killings for the nine months were 5,814,225 carcases, which exceeds lasi year's record by 475,295 carcases. TARANAKI OIL FIELDS Taranaki Oil Fields, Ltd., report for the week ended July 21 : "Gisborno No. 1 Well : Progress held up by condition of 6.|iu. diameter casing; now making further effort to rectify same.
