A proposal made at the Whangarei Harbor Board's monthly meeting 'by Mr. J. I). Mi tven/ie. 'that the hoard rescind its resolution approving Mr. F. \V. Furkerl's recommendation that the hoard construct a harbor above the sandstone reed', and in place thereof proceed with the construction of a harbor below Ihe reef, where water for deep-sea vessels is nbtahia.ble without dredging, was not supported. Mr. McKen/.ie said the board was adopting » policy contrary to that upon which ratepayers had sanctioned a loan. The motion was not seconded. Mr. J. E. Holmes said lie had hoped Mr. Fnrkort would reporl in favor of the lower harbor, hut he had not done so. The board had placed itself in Mr. Fnrkert's bands, ami be (the speaker) felt that he musl abide by his decision, even though personally he did not. agree with it..
