The burial of the mortal remains of Mr. Colin Finucane, who died in the Wellington Hospital on Monday, took place at the Wairoa cemetery on Tuesday, after a solemn requiem mass in St. Peter's Church. As the cortege moved from the church the organist, Mrs. B. Halpin, played the " Dead March." There was a large attendance of friends, including many of the onetime schoolmates of deceased. Father Hickson conducted the obsequies. ' The following have been selected to represent Wairoa at a golf match to be played at Waikarcmoana at the weekend: Mowat, Crichlon, Chambeijain, Albrecbt, Pidduck. Goodbohere, Martin, McCrea. Gibson, Perry, Harker, Jardine, Signall, McKeiizie', Rice, F. Fletcher, Swain and Sainsbury. At the last meeting of tho Wairoa Band committee the tender of Levy's (Wellington) was accepted for new uniforms. It was decided to procure new instruments and uniforms to the value of £7O.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Bodley, of Auckland, formerly of Wairoa, 'are visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. A. Bodley, of Waikaremoana.— Miss Edna Crarer,. of tho Wairoa exchange, who has been one of the most obliging officers during her career here, has been promoted' to Wellington, and leaves in a few days.
