AFTER SPEED RECORDS
GERMAN ROCKET CAR REMARKABLE CLAIMS (Australian and N.Z, Press Associationj BERLIN, April 13. A belief that all speed records are beatable by a rocket car appears in a statement issued by the Opal Motor Go., claiming that Max Valier, nicknamed "the fantastic cosmos flyer" owing to hi.s idea of building it rocket which can be shot into space, has invented a motor ear driven like a rocket by combustible power, instead of by petrol. The company says that the motor car has attained a speed of ICO kilometres an hour within eight seconds of starting. It will shortly make an effort to break Capt. Malcolm Campbell's record, which •will necessitate the rocket car travelling on a railway track. Thfi company adds that the machine is only a step towards a rocket air machine, which will be able to reach higher altitudes than have ever been attained, even without a, crew. The company is convinced that such a, machine will, even this year, penetrate space. . , ■" ■
