RABBIT BOARD
WORK ON EAST COAST - ' The East Const Rabbit Board met this morning, therfe bohig present: Messrs. E. M. Hutchinson, chairman, M. L. Holdcn, C. G. Holds worth, M. T. Trafford, and the stock inspector, Mr. D. M. Ross. Inspector T. Dawson, of Wairoa, reported as follows: "During the month I haVo inspected a fair portion of this district, and find it in good order. I have been over clearings at tho back of Wairau Moaria, and find this country clean, I have also been over Tarawcra and To Haroto country, and find this country . needs patch poisoning. I am having this work started this month. The numbers of rabbits killed for the month are: Moliaka 1, Maungataniwha 2, Taramarama 1, total 4." The following report .was received from Inspector H. Burgess: "On receiving instructions regarding poisoning the. East. Taitpo country, I got in touch with Inspector Muufo, and met him and Inspector Newson in Rotorua, and we decided,to start the poisoning on April .1, the Government to poison all Crown lands, the forestry company to poison their country as promised, and the board to poison Runanga and native lands towards Tnrawora. Wo started poisoning on April ?>. In reference to tho gate to bo erected on tho new bridge at Kopuriki, I saw Mr. Bribtier, the county engineer. There
is a drawing of a self-closing gate on the plans of the bridge, but afc provision far cost tif same in contract price. However) we agreed thai the engineer sob to the; erection of the gate, the beard to share 1 the 1 cost of same, btit to not inore.thaii £lO. The following are the nhniber's of rabbits killed: Waiohaii 4, Kopuriki aud Tawhinau 7, To Whaiti 11, total 26." The board confirmed tho action, of the inspector in agreeing to the contribution of half of the cost of t&e gate on tho Kopuriki bridge.uii to £lO. Accounts amounting to £307 10s 5d were passed for payment.
