The reappointment for a further year of the members of the Local Government Loans Board appointed by the Governor-General is announced. < These members are: Messrs. R. A. Anderson (Invercargill), G. C. Godfrey (Wellington), W. J. Holdsworth (Auckland),. G. A. Lewin (Dunedih), and S. A. lL.Mair (Hunterville). Tho secretary, to the Treasury (Mr. R., E. Hayes) and the Engineer-in-Chief to the Public Works Department (Mr.; F. W. Furkert) #are : members of the board .by statute. Lake House, Waikaremoana, has Been nuch improved during the past year, and is now capable of catering for large parties for extended poriods. The house is under tho control of the Tourist Department, and has been fitted throughout with electrical service, which in addition to making the premises much more convenient for visitors, has re« duced to a minimum the difficulties of iervi.ee; Members of the Poverty i Bay Power Board who visited the lalce and spent Thursday evening at the hostel wore pleased with the many evidences if electrical service, prominent features of which were stoves and sn ironing machine which, according to the manageress, has made this item of household labor a pleasure. Electric heaters, and a handsome nickelled urn for buffet use, were noted among the furnishings of the house.

An agreement was reached at the meeting of the East Coast Rabbit Board this morning to send a petition to the Government asking for the alteration ,of the board's boundaries as suggested by the Principal Inspectpr, Mr. Munro, of Auckland, in a report to the previous meeting, 'flie proposals mggested the cutting off of a large area of waste land on the Rangataiki Plains which the Government prefer to work 'hemselves. When, the boundary question was discussed at the previous meeting, it was reported that the Department owed the board £2OOO for work done on Crown and native lands, but a letter from the department pointed out that, this was not tho position. It was explained . that when all the a> counts were submitted to the depart ment, the department would then owe the board the amount quoted.
