In reference to- the shortage of water ' at MangahaO, and its effect on consumers Jti tho Central Hawke s Rower Hoard’s area, it was stated by the chairman of the board at its meeting in Waipukurnu that the position was - considerably easier—in fact, the crisis was practically passed. As -the result of tho conference of hoards at Palmerston North recently, tho auxiliary plant had been brought into operation, and this factor was tiding the department over. The condition of affairs at Mangahao was improving, and! with the new dam filled once rain fell, and Waikaremoana completed, there would bo no danger of a shortage in future.
