CANCER TREATMENT
AUSTRALIAN ACTIVITY PURCHASE OF RADIUM (Received Nov. 9, noon.) CANBERRA, Nbv. 9. In the House of Representatives, the assistant Minister of Health. Sir Neville Hawse, announced that the Commonwealth had purchased 10 grammes of radium, valued at £IOO,OOO. He explained that among Federal Ministers there was a desire that there should be no delay in deciding whether the extraordinary claims made, particularly in the United States, regarding radium treatment were justified.
It was recognised that there had been an alarming spread of cancer in Australia. and, in fact, all over the world. The Ministry was anxious to take every possible step to alleviate- or cure the condition of those suffering from this disease.
Ope of the leading exponents of radium treatment in Britain, Dr. Burrows, would arrive in Australia next month to place indium treatment oil the best possible basis in Hie Commonwealth.
