Glorious weather has prevailed here for a week, and is welcome after the unusually rainy season passed. The grass appears to be coming away well, and. a good lambing season is reported. Several shearing gangs have beeu at work for the past fort night, and wool has already come in to Tokomuiu. It is said that prices for wool carting have been very keen this year. In the Kuatortu district there' is a real "price war" in pro gress. . . The appearance of Ihe township is coiisidrrabh enhanced by the new premises just completed for the Bank of New Zealand. The building comprises a residence as well as the office, and occupies a commanding corner site near the bridge which crosses the Mfingahauini stream. The exterior of the office portion is nicely iinished 'm white rougli-cast over konka board, and the inside is bright and well ventilated. The residence is of wood throughout. The Tokoinaru Farmers' Co. has commenced rebuilding on the site where the (ire occurred recently. Provision is to be made for a restaurant, with residence attached, the rest of the building being offices built on up-to-date lines. Mr. S. McKee is building a new store. At llautanoa a combined store anil residence has just been completed for Mrs. W. To Whata.
