Colonel A. Hacking and Mr. A. lv. Penn, members of the British Motor Traders' Association delegation, which is visiting New Zealand, were visitors at the General Motors plant- at Petone. They were particularly interested in the assembly work, and were impressed with the amount of local work which is being put into manufacturing Chevrolet passenger cars and trucks, Buick models, l’ontiac coaches, and Otdsmobile cars which they saw in the process of manufacture and assembly in the General motors plant. Another feature which was of interest to Colonel Hacking and Mr. Ferin was the colonial-built saloon bodies which are being put on Britishbuilt Vauxhnl! chassis by Munt, Cottrell, and Neilson at their Petone works. It. was of interest to the British delegation to note that in addition to the vast, amount 1 of local assembly work that is being done at the General Motor works, other motor-cars are also being assembled partially or completely in New Zealand; these' include Essex ahd Ford.
