CANADIAN-N.Z. TEST O - A DRAWN GAME (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. The Association football first tost match, Canada v. New Zealand, the first international encounter in history between Canadian and New Zealand soccer teams, took place at Carisbrook ground yesterday before a delighted crowd of about 10,000. The weather was fine overhead, with an absence of glaring sun and disconcerting breeze, the only bar to perfect football conditions being the softness of thb ground. The play was of a high standard and the teams wore fairly evenly matched. Canada, however, had slightly more scoring opportunities. Brilliant goal-keepjng on both sides kept the scores down and it was close on half-time before New Zealand scored the first goal, Hislop finding the net, after Tait had partly cleared a shot, from Innes. The second spell opened sensationally. Archibald broke away and drew ’the goalie, but, in trying to dribble through the open goal mouth, struck the upright. Anderson rushed in to defence and, inexplicably, drove the ball into his own net. Pretty combined work brought New Zealand into the lead again, Jones gonling from a fine cross. Ton minutes before time good work by Archibald and Williams gave the ball to Milligan, whose partially saved shot was turned to profit by Williams, tho game ending New Zealand two, Canada two. •At Soccer in Auckland on Saturday Thistle 2, defeated Tramways nil. — P.A. .
