TELEGRAPHIC MATCH. . The telegraphic chess match between the Gislanne and Tc Arolia. Clubs concluded at midnight- on Saturday, after a hard-fought encounter, the result being stiil m doubt, halt the games having to be adjudicated upon. Gisborne won on baud No. 12, but lost on Nos. 5,8, and 10, and drew on Nos. 4 and 9. Of the unfinished games, Gisborne claims wins on boards No. 1) 3,6, 7, and 11, having in each case superiority in force, but evidently the Te Arolia players consider they would work out as draws. On No. 2 board, both strength and position are apparently equal; and Gisborne would agree to' a draw, but the Ta Aroha player believes that lie could force a win. Diagrams of the positions on the six hoards have been forwarded to Messrs. Bullock and Fenwick, of the Hamilton Chess Club, and the respective players will abide by their decision. Full scores of the match will then be published. The next telegraphic match will he with the Masterton Club, on July 23 and 30, which will be, followed by one with the Hamilton Club on August 13 and 20.
