11.8.J.C. MEETING ENDS (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, last night. The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s winter meeting concluded yesterday. In all £12,802 was put through the totalisator, as compared with £20,582 for the second day of last year—a decrease of £6781. For the meeting £24,385 was put through, as against £38,455 last year—a .'decrease of £14,120. Concluding resultu:—Raukawa Handicap, of 125 sofs; 1 mile I furlong: 4 A. Steer’s Boy (A. Ellis) 1; 3 O. F. VaUanre’s Grand National (A. McDonald) 2; 6 Mrs. A. M. Perry’s Piperenzo (F. Waddell) 8. Also started: 1 Romantic, 5 Ramblin’ Kid, 7 Lombardo. Won by three lengths. Time, 2.6 1-5. Final Handicap, of 150 sovs; 6J furlongs: 7 G. Priest’s Othou (J. Hockley, and G. R. Brown’s Riverina (G. Driscall), dead heat for first; 1 E. George’s Hipo (L. George) 3. Also started: 2 Pop Off', 3 Starboard Light, 4 Road Hog, 5 Lipsol. Hipo was three lengths behind.

■HAWKE’S BAY STEEPLECHASE Crown Coin was a firm favorite for the Hinvke’s Bay Steeplechase, run on Friday, while Fireblight finished up £7 better backed than Passin ’ Through. San Forte and Lupineel made the running for two miles and through the straight the second time. At, the end of two miles the rider of San Forte, who was in front, thought the race was over, and rode a desperate finish to the winning post, thereby missing the stand double, while the crowd roared with laughter. On realising his error he pulled up. San Forte’s deflection left Lupineel in front, and Fireblight falling at the bush out. of the straight, Crown Coin went up to the leader. They were together half a mile from home, where Lupineel fell at the sod wall. This left Crown Coin with a commanding lead from Passin’ Through, and he won by 100 yards or more. When they passed 'the post, Garzon still had two fences to clear for third money, and he successfully negotiated them, his rider being loudly cheered for his perseverance. RACING AT MOOREFIELIP SYDNEY, June 26. The weather for the Moorefield races was fine but cold. The going was good. Flying Welter (second division) : Reference 7.13, 1; Lecherous 8.3, 2; Oolmera, 7.10, 3. Seventeen started. An exciting finish. Won by a head. Time, 1.161. Moorefield Handicap : Stormy 8.10,1; Garrula 8.6, 2; Dion 7.10, 3. Twelve started. Garrula made the running to the straight, then Stormy shot to the front inside the distance and won cleverly by a neck. Time, 2.7 J. Hurstville Mile: Gladishot 7.0, 1; The Thorn 8.4, 2; Maksicoar 7.0, 3. Ten started. The Thorn led most of the wav, but the winner, finishing fast,’ beat him by a length. Time, 1.42£.
