BOYCOTT AGAINST BRITAIN
NEW CHINESE MOVE SHANGHAI, June 10. Contrary to the report of a better feeling towards the British in Kuomintang (Cantonese Nationalist) circles, an attempt now is being made to institute a complete boycott of British and Japanese goods. The Shanghai branch of the Kuomintang Council, apparently under orders from Nanking, has decided to issue an appeal to the Central Government, asking that a mandate be issued forbidding the purchase of such goods. Supporters of this new move tire undoubtedly acting' under official direction, for, it is stated, that the boycott has already been decided upon by the Central Executive Committee of the Kuomintang, ' and that the roundabout method of its commencement is only an offcial face-saving device. With a view to making the boycott complete, a meeting of unions, guilds, and associations has been called for Tuesday next to organise a huge propaganda, campaign, urging the, Chinese never again to buy British goods, while a scheme is also mooted to form an association to work for the severance of economia relatins with Y>.itain.
