FOOTWEAR PRICES
INCREASE FORESHADOWED (Received June 24, 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 24. An increase in the prices of footwear was foreshadowed at a- meeting id' the Leather Manufacturers' Association, which decided that, owing to the recent sharp advance in the price of hides, an immediate substantia! advance in the juices of all leathers was imperative, 11 was slated thai during the last, couple of months the values of a large proportion of hides had increased fully 50 per cent, as a result of the strong overseas demand, particularly from America.
