It is learned from Geneva that tlie Germans' application for membership of file Mandates Commission will nol arise till September. Theoretically, Germany has an eqiKifright with any other member of the League to a seal on the commission, but ill actual practice the Assembly on the Council's recommendation has nominated a small commission, giving preference lo the count lies actually operating the mandates. Sir Joseph Cook reported to the commission today regarding New Guinea, lie was closely examined by the commissioners regarding finance, and was able to satisfy them completely. The commission paid a tribute to Australia's public health efforts in New Guinea, and the manner in which the reports wore presented'. Sir Joseph Cook reported the appointment, of Mr. Peter MacGregor as a Roval Commissioner to report cm the gol'dtields.
